Battery station
In a battery facility, noise primarily comes from cooling equipment, fans, HVAC systems, inverters and transformers. When several battery containers and technical installations are operating simultaneously, the combined noise impact must be considered, rather than just the noise level from each individual unit. The design is therefore based on the facility layout, the equipment’s noise data, the distances to nearby homes and other noise-sensitive receptors, as well as local background noise levels. The barrier’s height, length and position are designed to interrupt the direct sound path between the noise sources and the surrounding area. Particular attention must be paid to the location of cooling fans and ventilation openings, as these can be prominent noise sources. Acoustic calculations can therefore be used to identify where a barrier will be most effective and how high it needs to be to provide sufficient screening. At the same time, the solution must be integrated with the facility’s requirements for ventilation, maintenance access, fire safety and emergency response. For one of our battery station projects, we developed a project-specific solution using aluminium cassettes and an angled top design. The angled design was adapted to the facility’s conditions, making it possible to combine acoustic performance with a well-considered and technically integrated construction. The result was a noise barrier designed around the specific conditions of the battery station, rather than a standard solution.
