From Wind Turbine Blades to Noise Barriers!
A growing environmental problem – and a new opportunity Across Europe, thousands of wind turbine blades are waiting for a second chance. They are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. When wind turbines reach the end of their life cycle – after 20–25 years – the blades end up stockpiled or buried in the ground. The problem? They are large, unwieldy and energy-intensive to break down. The solution? Reusing them in a new form – as noise barriers.

The problem with wind turbine blades and recycling arises when the product reaches the end of its life cycle. There is no established method for handling the glass-fibre material. This is a global problem!
That is why we are pleased to welcome the next step in sustainable infrastructure. At Nordic Noise Barrier Group, we are proud to present a completely new and groundbreaking product: noise barriers made from recycled wind turbine blades. We give a new lease of life to a product that would otherwise be “end of life”, combining sound insulation with environmental benefits. The result is a unique product that demonstrates how innovation and the environment can go hand in hand.
How it works – from wind power to noise protection
Our process begins where the blades are – quite literally. Using modern scanning technology, the shape and length of each wind turbine blade are documented in situ. After being roughly cut into sections, they are transported to a factory for further processing.
This is our solution at Bra Bullerplank i Sverige AB, where we are firmly committed to continuing to create sustainable solutions that improve everyday life, enhance our environments and stand the test of time well into the future!
